… ein bißchen UN-Bashing, hatten wir lange nicht mehr!

Was lesen meine müden Augen? Ach, Klagen, nichts als Klagen! UNIFIL beschwert sich in scharfen Worten über Israel.

According to the report, UNIFIL commander, Major General Claudio Graziano, said on Friday following a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, that his organization sent the UN a report outlining Israeli violations of Lebanese territories and airspace.

“UNIFIL has also sent a strong-worded letter to Israel denouncing violations,” Graziano told Siniora, according to the Daily Star.

A spokeswoman for UNIFIL, Yasmina Bouzianne, declared Friday that the organization has not taken any special measures following the assassination of Hizbullah leader Imad Mugniyah on Wednesday. “We continue to maintain the ceasefire agreement in accordance with UN Resolution 1701, and any irregular activity needs to be coordinated with the Lebanese army,” she said.

Was wird aber wohl der Anlaß für die Empörung gewesen sein?

IDF Chief of Staff, Lit.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, ordered the IDF on Thursday to take the necessary precautions needed to defend Israel’s northern border following the assassination in Damascus and consequent threats of retaliation by Hizbullah.

Aha. Wenn die UNIFIL schon keine besonderen Maßnahmen nach den scharfen Drohungen Nasrallahs ergriffen hat, so tut das eben Ashkenazi. Und dafür bin ich ihm dankbar.

Denn wäre die UNIFIL so selbstkritisch, wie sie israel-kritisch ist, dann müßte sie zugeben, daß sie selbst permanent und konsequent gegen die Resolution verstößt.

The text of Resolution 1701, passed unanimously by the UN Security Council aimed at ending the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The Security Council,

15. Decides further that all states shall take the necessary measures to prevent, by their nationals or from their territories or using their flag vessels or aircraft;

a. the sale or supply to any entity or individual in Lebanon of arms and related materiel of all types, including weapons and ammunition, military vehicles and equipment, paramilitary equipment, and spare parts for the aforementioned, whether or not originating in their territories [...]

Tatsächlich, die UNIFIL sollte die Wiederbewaffnung der Hisbollah verhindern. Und wie ist sie dieser Aufgabe nachgekommen?

Und so weiter, und so weiter.

Das ist also okay? Die Hisbollah darf sich munter wiederbewaffnen, Israel bedrohen, Vergeltung für eine Tag ankündigen, von der noch gar nicht raus ist, ob sie nicht ganz jemand anders begangen hat, und Kämpfer an der Grenze zusammenziehen? Ganz zu schweigen von dem Vorfall neulich in Ghajar, als von libanesischem Boden aus auf eine Grenzpatrouille geschossen wurde, die auf israelischem Boden war… Und UNIFIL beschwert sich über Israel.

The Lebanese newspaper A-Safir reported Saturday that the Lebanon-based guerilla group Hezbollah has deployed 50,000 “activists” along the southern border with Israel and declared a state of high alert in southern Lebanon.

According to the report, the organization has also evacuated all buildings in the area designated for social or political purposes in recent days, in preparation for a confrontation with Israel in the wake of the assassination of Hezbollah terror chief Imad Mughniyah.

Sagt mal, bin ich die Einzige, der das total verrückt vorkommt? Das darf doch wohl nicht sein, dieses immergleiche abgekartete Spiel der UN. Erst die Augen fest zudrücken, wenn Israel bedroht wird - und sie dann empört aufreißen, wenn Israel sich zur Selbstverteidigung bereitmacht.

Dasselbe Spiel auch im Gazastreifen. Ein UN-Fritze, John Holmes, weint Krokodilstränen über das unbestreitbar schwierige Leben der Menschen dort (auch wenn die humanitäre Katastrophe übertrieben wird - es könnte dem Gazastreifen ohne Zweifel viel besser gehen).

Mr Holmes, who is also the UN’s emergency relief co-ordinator, said the level of goods entering Gaza had dropped to 10% of what it was a year ago.

He said the Israeli restrictions had led to the collapse of the territory’s economy, which in turn caused widespread unemployment and poverty. As a result, some 80% of Gazans now depended on food aid, he added.

“All this makes for a grim human and humanitarian situation here in Gaza, which means that people are not able to live with the basic dignity to which they are entitled,” he said.

Dabei klagt auch er in beredten Worten Israel an - daß auch heute wieder mehrere Raketen auf israelischem Gebiet niedergegangen sind und Israel keinen Grund hat, den Gazastreifen als Sozialfall zu adoptieren, vergißt er dabei bequemerweise.

Ebenfalls, daß die Palästinenser selbst durch ihre ewigen internen Gewaltakte (gestern gegen Christen, interessiert das jemanden, die Verbrennung einer Bücherei des YMCA?) entscheidend dazu beitragen, daß keine Ruhe bei ihnen einkehrt.

Warum sonst wäre Karni geschlossen worden, wenn nicht wegen Terror und ständiger Bedrohung? Würden die Terroristen endlich mal Ruhe geben, wären solche gemeinsamen israelisch-palästinensischen Industriegebiete Motoren für die gesamte Gegend. Hat der Mann das nicht begriffen? Er war doch da. Es wird ihm doch jemand erklärt haben, daß auch die Hamas in Karni Anschläge ausgeführt hat?

In Gaza, Holmes visited Gaza’s largest hospital, Shifa, speaking to dialysis patients and stopping in the neo-natal department. He also toured the Karni industrial zone near the closed cargo crossing between Gaza and Israel. The industrial zone once employed 1,800 Palestinians, but has been idle since June, officials said.

Aber nein, Holmes weiß, was geschehen muß:

“So what is essentially needed is an opening of the crossings, a lot more goods coming in.”

Leider wissen wir nur allzugut, welche Güter die Palästinenser gern nach Israel schaffen möchten und das auch tun, sobald wir die Grenzen öffnen…

Das Ärgerlichste daran: es gibt nach wie vor naive, brave Menschen, für die die UN tatsächlich eine moralische Autorität darstellen. Ich weiß es, denn ein paar dieser Menschen lesen hier mit und ich erwarte gespannt ihre Kommentare
